Why this pou matters
Much of the leadership material used in Aotearoa has been imported. Some of it is useful, but too often it asks people to lead in a voice, model or register that is not their own.
Rangatira exists to build leadership capability through Aotearoa and Māori examples of confidence, adversity, communication and service — so participants can grow as leaders without becoming less of themselves.
What we are building
Leadership and mentoring programmes for Māori and Pasifika participants, with a focus on confidence, resilience through adversity, communication and the responsibilities that come with influence.
We are assessing whether to license an existing proven programme rather than build everything from scratch. The aim is to combine an approach that already works with delivery that is culturally and locally ours.
What will make it possible
Completion of programme design and foundation partners willing to support or host the first cohort.
