Confidence grows through connection to place

This pou will be delivered through specialist partners. Tangatake is confirming those relationships now.

Why this pou matters

Our region is water and bush. Our people spend time in both, often without access to the training that can keep them and others safe.

This is practical, high-stakes mahi. It also creates something deeper: taiao-based learning places people in relationship with whenua and wai, where identity, responsibility and confidence can grow naturally.

What we are building

  • Water safety and bush safety training.
  • Outdoor and taiao-based learning.
  • Health, wellbeing and emergency-readiness capability.
  • Community-level capability so knowledge remains with whānau and communities after a course ends.

Why we will work through specialists

Water and bush safety require proven expertise, established standards and experienced delivery. Tangatake will partner with organisations that already hold that capability rather than duplicating it.

What will make it possible

Confirmed partnerships with water safety, health, outdoor education and emergency-service providers across the Wellington region.
